Grant Gill is an emerging artist based in Milwaukee, WI, and is a Contributing Writer for LENSCRATCH. He completed a BFA in photography from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. He is a part of the New Directions series at the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography, and has exhibited both locally and nationally. Grant’s convictions in magic have followed him to adulthood, becoming the cornerstone to most of his work. Using photography, his stories reveal the fragile states of reality, and embrace the onset of happenings. Grant’s focus includes unexplained phenomena, illusion, and the malleable nature of time. Today we share his series, The Recondite. The Recondite Consoled by these images, I move past the mundane, physical world. In doing so, ethereal landscapes, tenuous happenings, and visual metaphors are created, enforcing the idea that reality is not linear.
