Yael Malka, a native New Yorker, is currently self-publishing her first photo book, with co-author, Cait Oppermann. She graduated from Pratt in May 2012 with a BFA in Photography and can now be found working in her studio in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. In the summer of 2012 Yael and Cait launched a kickstarter in order to raise funds to travel across Europe and create a photographic book of their travels. The book titled Sea Blues, is due to go to press this spring. Today we share that series.Untitled (Last Day), Stöckholm, 2012 Sea Blues These images are from a 70-day backpacking trip across Morocco, Turkey and several countries within Europe. The photographs speak to the constant feeling of displacement and disorientation from my time traveling, yet a deep love for travel and discovery. I went on this trip with my girlfriend, who is a big part of these images. The work displays the comfort and discomfort I felt while traveling as well as my perspective on time, which became very elastic.
